Along the left bank of the Ping River, next to the well-known restaurant The Gallery, lies the Tha Chaang Gallery and its Jazz Club. Opened just one year ago, the latest undertaking of Chiang Mai restauranteur Surachai Lesawasthipong (also the owner of The Gallery) is already making a name for itself.
Entering through the street-side gallery, we find ourselves in an old two-storey teak house where the meeting between past and present creates a singular and pleasant atmosphere. Here, surrounded by portraits of past jazz greats, Thai musicians give vent to their passion.
The Jazz Club is becoming a gathering point for both Thais and foreigners, jazz enthousiasts and those looking for a place to relax listening to music and enjoying good Thai food.
